Having Problems Choosing Type!

Think about your subject matter
Check out your competition, go to newsstands and look through magazines. (Barnes & Noble on Union Square, Atlantic News on 3rd Ave and 12th st, there's one on 23rd st bet. 5th and 6th Aves if I'm not mistaken)
If you think you find something you like post it on typophile.com or whatthefont! to find out what it is.
then go through your font library see if you have it. If you don't have it, go to identifont.com and search for a similar one.

*Please, bring all your layouts to every class so that we can see how each magazine is developing.

*Please, be on time for the field trips. These art directors are busy and are doing us a favor.

*For reference please purchase and study the Society of Publication Designers (SPD) Annuals and Ellen Lupton's Thinking with Type both available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, the Strand, etc.
* Please, post all your layouts on your blogs.

Other Valuable Resources Include: The Type Directors Club annuals, the Art Directors Club annuals, GQ, Esquire, The New York Times Style magazine, Details, Portfolio and Martha Stewart Living and Kids magazines among others.
Get them! Study the typographic specifics.
