This week, please do following:
- create your blog, and start documenting your work (email us your url, please)
- mark up GQ spread (see example below)
- identify your demographic, which will require considering age, income, and education level, and location
- sign up for typophile.com, and start exploring typefaces
- collect inspiration—separated by imagery, type, and color—into your swipe folder
- read Grid Systems (shared on class blog) and the first two chapters of Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton
- buy/borrow at least one SPD annual to reference/inspiration (spd.org)
Bring with you to class next Monday:
- choose your magazine topic/subject matter
- create a mood board (or a printed collection of swipe material) that captures the feel of your magazine
- bring a data device if you want the font library
- the magazines you brought last week
