1) Decide the table of contents of your magazine. Your magazine consists of 3 departments + an end page and 3 features.
2) Design 1 of your departments. If you haven't designed department templates, this is the time to catch up. Departments should have a consistent structure. First get your templates right. Get your headline, subhead, pull quote, rubric, caption working together before you incorporate the images in your layouts. Figure out the hang line and keep the body copy underneath that line.
