Homework assignment for this week:
Get an art directed section of the New York Times and highlight and label an article of it to show everything we discussed in class. Do the jump as well (the "jump" being where the article i continued on a following page).
(Some of the main things to highlight include: justification or rag, headline, subhead, biline (or featured author), initial drop cap and # of characters effected, leadline (# of words that are capped after the drop cap, and how many words are effected), photo credits, captions and pull quotes. If you cal label anything else in your spread do it!)
Also - keep working on your feature and department layouts. Take what we discussed in class on good typeface choices, layout options, and elements that would speak to your target audience and apply them. Push your options, and have fun with it, It helps if you are designing for you rather than an audience you don't understand.
